where did summer go this year,, I know there are alot I have not mentioned, like our trip to Mt. had a ball with some good friends there along with Jim and Kathy stricker, who are part of the wild bunch along with Tom and Ida Larsen who keep us in stitches with laughter. All the horses are doing fine, we have been riding alot this fall, exploring new places and taking a different horse each time we go out, There was no Ft. Robinson morgan ride this year,, they decided to go to Monument Valley instead, I just had too much going on, met alot of really neat people, and new horse people on something called Facebook, had no idea of how many crazy people there are out there,, but most of them are just fun people, We have had a good fall but very dry, here at this place,, every where else it has been flooding, in all the rivers, We did not take a vacation this year, just to many things going on, but we did get some really good riding in at the Orr ranch out of Heartville Wyo. Butch and Dee Orr invited our bunch out to ride around since that is where I put in for my elk permit, Jack my babysitter who is Eves horse took a couple of gals along with Chester and the stud Tuscon,it was very interesting and beautiful in the timber and in all the meadows and pine clad hills. the early part of Sept all the way thro Oct was unusually hot, but the riding was great. Then in Oct in fact Halloween day Ida Larsen and I took off horseback while Evelyn and Tom Larsen took the vehicle and went picture taking. It was just a fun day, warm and in the timber no wind. the yearlin stud colt Classic aka smarty has been getting some much needed lessons in manners, and he has turned into a sweet heart that loves attention, so he will become another good solid riding horse here on this place. It is late Nov now,, we finally got some cold weather, a little snow but nothing lasted, more wind, and more picture taking with Tom and his camera. It is almost thanksgiving , so lets all be thankful for something this year,, With so many men and women being gone from home and serving our country lets just take a moment of silence to honor each and every one who is in uniform, and bow our heads and pray for the souls that have given the ultimate sacrafice for each and every one of us here today.. I hope you will leave some comments, let me know what you think and if you would like anything different on this site. Happy trials to all of you folks, stan 777 Morgans
we got good rain this spring and into summer,, this year we have had an invasion of weeds, mainly cheat grass because of all the cold wet conditions, We also have had a great year of getting some much needed work done around the place, and also at our farm house in Ft. Laramie, we have been trying to sell it, but with the market that is just not happening. We have been planning for our upcoming trip to Billings Mt. for an Angel horse reunion with my old friends Bruce Hauser and the Sawmill Creek band,, some of you out there might remember the good ole days in Jackson, Cody, Thermop, Sheridan, in fact all over the state when they played, We are big supporters and Jonie Jonkowski is a sweetheart of a gal, 2 time world champ women Bull Rider, and she is no bigger than a minute but tough as nails. It will be good to see her again also. As I sit here and try to remember all that has happened I have to mention having a team of pro photographers out here taking pictures of the horses,, Many thanks to Foothills moving pictures for takin the time to come out and visit and get some great shots,, most of them will be in the gallery soon. In Aug we had a large group out here for a BBQ and all the gals wanted to ride, so we saddled up and just rode all over the place, they had a good time also, then it was haying time again, got an early start this year, spent many a night on the porch watching the lights go up and down the 140 acre pasture just below the house. I was thrilled with the amount of hay the guys put up this year, and with the drought in Tx I am sure I will have no problem selling any of it. I did keep enough for my horses and saved enough for a couple local customers who like the hay I have. Hope your summer was a good one, may our paths cross sometime in the near future. always Stan 777 Morgans
well April started off with a bang, putting in cross fences in the pasture, Harrowing the pastures to keep the weeds down Got all the horses trimmed and cleaned up after such a shaggy winter Went to the National Team Roping Championship and had a ball with some of the top ropers in the country, donated a picture that went for big bucks. We also ran all the tests on Rosie, and she came back clean, checked the temp and brought her right home and bred her to C My Goldenhawk,, what a sweetheart he has turned out to be. Now we take her back for a couple more final tests to make sure. She is the mare that Ramul rode till the time he passed ,so I want to make sure she is going to take. In early May we took Rosie in for her ultrasound,, everything looks very good so far. We also weaned the little stud colt Classic,, who we call Smarty, he just loves Chester, so he is the official babysitter right now. We also sold all the hay,, we kept enough for ourselves but got rid of 3 semi loads out of the lower pasture, It was really good to see them roll out of here.We got a phone call from Jessie Dvarishkis telling me about a big dedication for Ramuls memorial in Thermopolis,, she said, Stan You just have to make it up I want you to make it , so we planned our time to make it. We also delivered our 2 horse trailer to a good friend and his wife, Charles Ramsey and I had gone to Iowa to pick up a mare and colt and ended up buying Goldenhawk in the deal,, he needed a trailer and I loaned him mine, Evelyn went along to meet this great couple and their little girl Georgia who follows me around like a puppy dog, what a sweetheart. Then we came back home and planted currant bushes in the wind break, In June we went to Thermopolis for Ramuls memorial dedication, I was trilled to see the benefactor for the memorial stone to dedicate Ramul,, Mike Rhone from Ariz had put up money and was there for the presentation, I brought the original painting that my good friend Fred Peterson had done for me, it was the first time that any of the family had seen the painting. All the family was there along with Ramuls brother Eddie, who was the manager of the Antler ranch out of Meeteetsee for as long as I can remember, we had a wonderful visit with all of the folks I consider part of my family. Then it was back home to horses getting pastures ready for hay season all over again.
March was an interesting month. We started out having to replace the water well motor, our well people are very good and came right out and put the new one in.The joys of the country life. March was also a very windy cold, blustery month without a lot of mousture to go along with it. Stan spent 3 days in Montana helping a good friend bring back a really neat horse drawn sleigh and a buggy. We spend Evelyns birthday at Prairie Winds Casino and Hotel in SD, had fun, and donated to the local economy. Horses are all fat and sassy, and wintered very well, since we have so much hay they are having a great time, Destiny the lippett mare and her stud colt Classic are doing just fine, We are in the prosess of making some new additions to the barns, and redoing some of the corrals, need more space. Classic has 3 new buddies to pal around with, he enjoys running with Jack and Chester, and also Rosie, Destiny does not get along with the others, she torerates them but would prefer to be the Queen of the place, The little guy just goes anywhere he wants and loves to play with the bigger grownups with out any help from MOM. Tucson and Goldenhawk are doing fine, have been using and riding both when the weather has not been so windy and cold. Spring on the clock is here, but in reality it is still very Iffy, windy, cold, and unsettled weather, We have really had a very mild winter, and can’t wait for a real warm up to come along. I have been working with Foothills Moving pics, making a poster, it will be out soon for sale. The horse is alot better looking than the rider, but it is a cool poster, Will post pics at a later date. Well have a safe time riding, showing, working and enjoying your horses, and the people who mean something to each and every one of you. Until next time. remember to go to the news, and post a comment. we like hearing from you folks, Happy Trails to all of you. Stan
well we have been having Rosie to the vets for the past couple of weeks now, she has had an infection, when we had her bred this last yr we thought she was in foal, but after a couple months I was beginning to have my doubts, then when we got Goldenhawk the new stud she came into heat, boy what a shock, so I took her in and found out about the infection, as I sit here tonight writting this she is at the vets going thro a series of flushings to clear it up. Then we will keep tabs on her and let her cycle 2 more times before we get down to the breeding part. We are having a major winter storm all day today and it is supposed to get worse before Sat. I will be picking the mare up tomorrow afternoon. I want to keep a close eye out on her condition in the coming months since she is the Last of Ramuls line, She is 20 coming 21 this spring, but she is in great shape, and acts like a young 4 yr old. Let me know what you think of the new format on the site and the pics I post to give you some idea of who is who and what is what. Take care, comment as often as you like and if there is something I can add please let me know. Stan 777 Morgans
Stan went to Iowa and came back with a coming 10 yr old Morgan, He is a palamino, C My Goldenhawk, and a mare and 3 month old stud colt, mare is C My Destiny and the colt is classic, He is a little smarty He really struts his stuff head up and always looking, He loves to play with my palamino gelding Jackpot when he can get far enough away from mom. She being an alpha mare watches him very close, but now seems to get along with the rest of the herd, The 2 stallions are running together, they have their own (pecking order) but it has helped Tucson a bunch, he has settled right down and Goldenhawk is just amazing with Tucson and the rest of our horses, We have had some brutal weather, way below zero temps, wind and more wind, but the past few days have been a big improvment, Most of the snow is gone, the pasture are still Ice underfoot, but it is warmer than before. I have been in contact with the Veterans Administration, They are going to look into my benefits, and the cancer thing, Hope things work out there, but not really sure what is happening. We are trying to get new stalls, new barn set up for the upcoming year, I need more room for the new colt coming up, and a place to seperate the mares and the rest. We have just been like the old ( Sawmill Creek ) songs says Barely Gettin Bye, We hope you folks like the new site, keep coming back and I will sit down and write about some times I spent with Ramul in the high country, along with some stories that will make you laugh, and reflect on this world we live in. Take care, each and every one of you. And thanks for visiting with us here, comments are most welcome. Till we meet again,,, Happy trails.
It was a pretty quiet fall. Went to the Doxie Races in Deadwood, SD. Fun time. If you look in the gallery you will find a picture of Alex–”The Fastest Weiner in the West” and his owners Jim and Kathy, who are good friends of ours….. Stan rode several times to stretch the kinks out of his, and the horses legs. Also had friends here to ride a few times. We shared our holiday meals with friends this year. One of our guests for Thanksgiving was a young man in the Air Force, who was stationed, away from family, at Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City, SD…..There were several pleasure trips to Laramie Peak and the Medicine Bow Mountains, at different times, during the fall and early winter. Our new Lab pup is getting bigger as puppies do. He weighed 68# at the end of Dec. and isn’t fat. Just longer, taller, and lean.
Theresa Sheridan finished our new website, she did a great job, now I have to learn all that she put in here, so bear with me folks I am old. I do want you to put down comments, if you like or not, also you can give me some ideas as to what you want to talk about concerning Ramul, his horses, our place here and our horses and lets make this a fun site to come back to time and time again. Thanks very much Stan
Late August – September was a bit of a trial for both of us. The old Lab, Jake, had a stroke and seizure resulting in us making the decision to have him put down. Sure not easy. Then 3 weeks later we found a little bundle of dynamite named Barley. A yellow Lab. pup. What an added bundle of energy to our family this is. Even my Heeler , Bear loves Barley. It took a few days but is sure OK now. September ended in good favor for us.
Don’t know just where Spring ended and Summer began. Spring was wet and cooler than normal. Had lots of rain early to mid June. Stan took Ramuls Roseann to a stud.(Hope she likes him). A week later found him and a neighbor riding with the Morman Wagon Train for a few days. He enjoyed that a lot. I enjoyed the time they took from traveling to come here to see our place, also the wonderful evening meals and the visiting. Great people! Then …They headed on West….. It soon was County Fair time and then State Fair. Not long and time for Rosie to come home. Yes, She liked him. We went to Ft. Rob this year to visit only, Meet new people. Then on to Billings to an old fashioned Barn Dance with Bruce Hauser and Sawmill Creek playing. It was a benefit for Angel Horses in Billings….. Now it’s time for Tucson to come home for a while. We will keep you posted on this one.
